Head Coach, Team Leader, Innovator - Bay of Islands Swimming Club

Bay of Islands Swimming Club has a vacancy for a Head Coach, Team Leader, Innovator. This is a full time position but part time may also suit

With the departure of our part-time coach we are looking to create a new and exciting position for an enthusiastic, qualified and forward thinking coach. Our ideal applicant would hold at least a SNZ Skills Certificate/SNZ Bronze Accreditation (or equivalent) and have experience in coaching and learn to swim teaching. However training would be considered for the right applicant.

Our club is at an exciting point – this year we have a swimmer at Opens and our NAGs team has gone from one swimmer in 2008 & 2009 to five swimmers this season. Our swimmers are now seeing the benefits of an increased level of training – both the number of sessions and also the level of commitment that is required to succeed. Bay of Islands has Northland’s top swimmer who is a NAGs medallist and has been on SNZ Development Camps.

We are based at the ASB Recreation Centre in Kawakawa (indoor 25m, 6 lane, heated pool) and are the only club using the pool so lane space is not a problem. Kawakawa is about 20 mins from Paihia, which offers an idyllic lifestyle for anyone interested in aquatics, fishing and an outdoor lifestyle. Subsidised accommodation in Paihia can be offered for the first 3-6 months.

Hours, Remuneration, Terms of Employment: To be negotiated. This can be a full time position but a part timer may also suit.

Commencement date: Approximately 1 May 2010

Reporting to: The Development Committee
